Dinner Rolls

My favorite bread recipe. Soft and light. And just in time for Thanksgiving! And the best part? You can make this either by hand or. . in the bread machine

Yep. Fast, easy, and delicious. And pretty.

But then, for me at least, it doesn't get anymore beautiful than warm, fresh, golden brown carbohydrates. :D

So for the rest of this lovely day, I will sit inside (with the snow storm outside) and enjoy my beautiful carbs. With honey. And probably feed my horrible Pinterest addiction while ignoring things I actually should be doing. That's what holidays are for.

Delicious Dinner Rolls
oven: 400
1 1/3 cups warm water
1 pkg yeast
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons vegetable oil, olive oil, or melted butter
4 cups bread flour (all-purpose will work in a pinch)
2 tablespoons melted butter, for brushing the finished rolls

Bread Machine Method:
1) Place all ingredients in the bread maker, according to manufacturer's directions. Place on dough setting. Once through, refer to the below "Forming the Rolls"

By Hand Method:
1) Dissolve the yeast and sugar into the warm water into a large bowl. Let sit for about 5 minutes, until it appears a little foamy.

2) After the 5 minutes, add the oil and salt and stir. Add flour. Stir with a wooden spoon until roughly combined- your mixture will probably look a little shaggy- thats ok! Pour out the mixture onto an un-floured counter and knead for about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

3) This method only requires one rising, so now refer to "Forming the Rolls" below.

Stand Mixer Method:
1) Dissolve the yeast and sugar into the warm water into the mixer's bowl. Let sit for about 5 minutes, until it appears a little foamy.

2) Using the paddle attachment, add the rest of ingredients and mix on medium until roughly combined (may look a little shaggy). Then switch to the dough hook and mix on medium-high for about 6-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

3) This method only requires one rising, so now refer to "Forming the Rolls" below.

Forming the Rolls:
1) Roll the dough out (you shouldn't need much flour on your counter, if any) into a circle- about 12 inches in diameter. With a pizza cutter (or knife), slice into 16 wedges. Roll up each wedge, starting from the wide side. Place with the loose end down on a greased cookie sheet. Cover with greased plastic wrap, and let rise about an hour and a half. *For the Bread Machine Method, only let these raise about 45 minutes, as they rose once before in the machine.

2) Once the rolls have doubled in size, bake at 400 degrees for about 25-30 minutes, until golden. Brush finished rolls with melted butter, if desired.
