Pepper Jack Pastry Twists

First off, this recipe is the easiest thing that I have ever posted. Ever. And its delicious. And it seems so gourmet. I mean its a pastry twist. This is one of those things you make for a party, and everyone compliments you on the deliciousness, and you just say, "Oh this, I just whipped up these pastry twists this afternoon- I guess gourmet things just come easy to me." And then they say in open-mouthed, reverenced awe, "Pastry Twists. Yes, gourmet one, they do." And then you smile gently at the regular people and wave (that awesome princess wave from Princess Diaries). And they will never know. Oh the beauty of it.  :D

Pepper Jack Pastry Twists
2 sheets of puff pastry
1 egg + 1 tablespoon water, whisked together
1 cup finely shredded pepper jack cheese

1) Preheat oven to 400F. Let puff pastry sheets thaw for about 40 minutes.

2) On a lightly floured counter, gently roll out each pastry sheet, just a little bit. Brush both lightly with egg wash- all the way to the edges. Sprinkle the cheese onto one of the sheets. Top with the other sheet- egg washed side down, and gently seal the edges. Cut into about 12 strips, twist each, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Baked for about 15 minutes, until golden and all puffed up. Serve.

Told you it was easy. Now make 'em and enjoy :)
