Double 'Darth' Chocolate Wookie Cookies

Mhmm. You read that right. We got some star-to-the-wars goin down today.

These delicious cookies are also known as Korova Cookies. But for Star Wars trilogy marathon purposes, they are Double Darth Chocolate Wookie Cookies.

Now unless you are really ready to join the Force, you probably should back away now. These are super 'Chewy', intensely chocolate cookies. They would make any sith lord a happy kiddo.

You know that saying, "Join the dark side, we have cookies"? Well today we do. So Suit up! (and don't forget your light saber). (and Han Solo...pleease don't forget him).

Double Darth Chocolate Wookie Cookies
adapted from Korova Cookies via Cafe Fernando
11 tablespoons butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla (I omitted this because I ran out, and they were still great)
2/3 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1  1/4 cups flour
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
6 oz chocolate chips (about half of those 11.5 oz bags)

1) In your stand mixer (paddle attachment) or a hand mixer, beat butter on medium for about 1-2 minutes until pale and creamy. Add vanilla, salt, and sugars and beat another minute. Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda. Mix into the butter mixture on low until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.

2) Divide in half and roll into 2 logs, about 1  1/2 inches in diameter. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about an hour.

3) Preheat oven to 325F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Using a sharp knife, cut loafs into 1/2 inch slices. Place 1 inch apart on baking sheets and bake 12 minutes. They will look slightly undone, but don't cook them any longer- they will firm up as they cool. Cool on the parchment paper.

Now Luke, stop messing with your sister! Don't make me tell your father about this! You know what happened last time- those prosthetic limbs are just too expensive for you to get into anymore trouble!

I love the Star Wars references and the recipe - sounds delicious! Although when I first saw "wookie cookies" on foodgawker (where I found the link to your page) I was definitely surprised ... wookie cookies have another, less-than-legal connotation as well, at least where I am from, lmao! It's a term for a cookie along the lines of "special brownies."

  3. Looks so chocolatey and good! I had to pin your Asiago swirl bread too. I am dying for a piece of it right now! Have to spend a few more minutes salivating and seeing what other temptations you have!
