Layered Truffle

I was just playin around in the kitchen today and made some of these things. I don't know what to call them, but if a layered truffle existed, this would be it.

These are so incredibly rich, I'm pretty sure you would die if you ate a whole one of those bars. I should have made little squares -- maybe 2 layers tall instead of 3.

If you have a bag of chocolate chips and some butter and feel like messing around with chocolate - give 'em a try (you could fill them with anything...!)

Chocolate Vanilla Almond Buttercream Layered Truffle
1, 12 oz bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup butter, softened
3 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
raspberries

1) Melt your chocolate chips in the microwave (about 3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds). Spread thinly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate until hardened.

2) Cream the butter. Add powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, almond extract, and salt and beat on medium until creamy.

3) Slice the hardened chocolate into squares. Pipe frosting in between layers of chocolate squares. Top with a raspberry. Serve.

  2. How many squares will this make? I'm just wondering how far the ingredients stretch since you said they're so rich. They look beautiful and darn yummy too!
